GOALS
This year, my goal was to master the new Freshman curriculum and implement strategies that work best at the Freshman level. ...I came to realize that I might never "master" the curriculum, as I am constantly setting new and higher expectations for myself. |

When I initially took the CSTP Self-Assessment, my top strength was "Developing as a Professional Educator." After all of the professional development and hard work I put in this year, I was a little surprised that that this CSTP moved down to my number three strength. However, after reflecting on this, it makes sense: my dedication to improve has skyrocketed my other strengths. My final CSTP self-assesment shows that my areas of strength are "Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning and Understanding" and "Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning." |
Comparing and contrasting my initial CSTP to my final CSTP self-assessments, my most needed opportunity for improvement has remained the same: I still need to work on differentiating my instruction. Because I have taught English Language Development classes for a few years now, I feel comfortable differentiation for ELs; however, I would like to continue to push my higher achieving students in my College Prep classes. These students finish work quickly or may become bored in class because they are not being challenged enough: I will focus on improving this in my future classes. |
"Kiersti Hunkle is a super-hero with a teaching degree. She brings contagious enthusiasm into her classroom on a daily basis. She presents a challenging rigor and delivers instruction using presentations and technologies her students can relate to. She empathizes with and respects her students. She teaches them how to think, not what to think. She holds the same high standards for all of her students and teaches them according to how they learn. She teaches through all of the intelligences. I believe she will affect her students through eternity.” |
